Developed in the 1990s, this material is preferred especially in root-end treatments, perforation (drilling) repairs, and pulp capping. MTA accelerates tissue healing. It is long-lasting and durable. It has a high chance of saving the tooth. Its hardening time may be long (3-4 hours). Its cost is higher than other filling materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Application\"><\/span>Application<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area is numbed with local anesthesia. Infected tissues are cleaned and the area is disinfected. MTA is made into a paste consistency and placed in the application area. It is allowed to harden in a humid environment and closed with a temporary filling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Properties\"><\/span>Properties<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biocompatible: It is compatible with body tissues and is not toxic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Antibacterial Effect: It reduces the risk of infection by preventing bacterial growth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High Sealing: Provides excellent insulation in closing the canals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Secretes Calcium Ions: Promotes tissue healing and supports hard tissue formation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Moisture Resistant: It can harden even in a humid environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"In_Which_Cases_Is_MTA_Used\"><\/span>In Which Cases Is MTA Used?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apexification (Root End Closure): It allows the root end to be closed in teeth with incomplete root development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perforation Repair: It is used in the repair of perforations in the root or root end that occur during root canal treatment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pulp Capping (Direct\/Indirect): It is applied in procedures aimed at protecting the pulp (nerve tissue).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retrograde Filling (Surgical Endodontics): It is used to close the end part of the canal after root end resection (cutting).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apical Barrier: It creates a barrier at the root end in the treatment of underdeveloped roots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MTA is a biocompatible filling material frequently used in endodontics (root canal treatment).
