The maxillary sinus is an air-filled cavity located on the sides of the nasal cavity. Bone volume in this area may decrease after tooth loss. The sinus lifting procedure allows for the creation of sufficient bone volume for the implant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Is_Sinus_Lifting_Performed\"><\/span>Why Is Sinus Lifting Performed?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Insufficient Bone Height:<\/strong> Bone height in the upper jaw&#8217;s posterior regions is usually limited. Volume may decrease due to bone resorption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sinus Boundaries Being Below:<\/strong> In some people, the sinus floor may be naturally low.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tooth Loss:<\/strong> Bone volume may decrease due to tooth loss in the upper jaw. Edema is reduced by applying a cold compress. Antibiotics and painkillers are prescribed. Nasal hygiene is important; movements that will create pressure (sneezing, vigorous nose cleaning) should be avoided. Stitches are removed within 7\u201310 days. Bone graft maturation may take 4\u20136 months.
