Implant Treatment in Multiple Tooth Deficiencies
In the case of multiple missing teeth, treatment is performed using implant-supported bridges or individual implants.
Individual Implants
- An implant is placed in place of each missing tooth.
- It requires more time and cost, but provides excellent results in terms of aesthetics and function.
Bridge Type Prostheses
- Implants are strategically placed in place of the missing teeth and the gaps in between are closed with bridge prostheses.
- For example, in the case of 3 missing teeth, 2 implants can be placed and a bridge can be made.
Application Stages
- The bone condition and prosthesis design are determined.
- The required number of implants are placed under local anesthesia.
- It is waited for 2–6 months for the implants to fuse with the bone.
- Fixed or removable prostheses are mounted on the implants.
Advantages
- With the completion of lost teeth, aesthetics and chewing function are regained.
- Adjacent teeth are not damaged.
- Provides more comfortable use compared to removable prostheses.
Who Can Apply?
- It is applied in those with sufficient bone volume and density, and in patients with high aesthetic and functional concerns.
- In patients without sufficient bone support, the application is made by adding bone grafts.
- In this case, it is necessary to wait a little longer for osseointegration, that is, the fusion of the implant with the bone.
